Oil Well Cement Testing

Compressive strength development read through the cement, without breaking a cube.

An ultrasonic cement analyser measures how fast sound travels through a slurry as it sets and converts the transit time into compressive strength. Nothing is destroyed, so one sample gives a continuous curve from placement to set instead of one point per crushed cube.

The 420ATC holds two cells under automatic temperature control, so two slurries, or one slurry on two schedules, run side by side at the pressure and temperature the job will see. What comes out of it is the waiting on cement time, which is a rig cost decision rather than a laboratory curiosity.

What it measures
Compressive strength development against time, non destructively
How it works
Ultrasonic transit time, two cells, automatic temperature control
Where it is used
Cement slurry design and waiting on cement decisions
