Rheology control and anti-settling in coatings.
In coatings, bentonite is a rheology modifier. It builds the thixotropy that stops a paint sagging on a vertical surface, and keeps pigment in suspension in the tin.
Grades are selected against the binder system and the application method rather than sold as a single product.
Mica is supplied to the same sector as a functional filler. The platy structure improves film integrity and reduces cracking, and the grade is matched to the coating.
