Borehole lubrication and stability during trenchless installation.
Horizontal directional drilling depends on the fluid doing more work than it does in a vertical hole. The mud lubricates the pull, stabilises the bore and carries cuttings along a path where gravity is no help.
Blends are matched to the ground being crossed, since the same product will behave differently through sand, clay and mixed fill.
