In slurry shield tunnelling the bentonite suspension holds the face and carries spoil back to the separation plant. Consistency matters, because the shield operator is trusting a fluid he cannot see.
Supplied for both face support and slurry wall applications, with grades selected for the ground and the separation equipment in use.
Mica is supplied alongside as a lost circulation material, bridging and sealing a loss zone where the ground takes mud faster than it can be replaced.
