Water well drilling asks the same things of bentonite as the oilfield does, at a different scale and price point. The material has to build filter cake, hold the borehole open and carry cuttings without over-viscosifying.
Supplied in contractor friendly packaging with mixing guidance for the rigs and pumps actually used on site.
Mica is supplied alongside as a lost circulation material. The flakes bridge and seal a loss zone, and the grade is matched to the size of the losses rather than taken from a catalogue.
