The temperature at which a completion brine starts dropping salt back out of solution.

A clear completion brine is a saturated or near saturated salt solution, and it has a temperature below which crystals form. The kit measures the true crystallization temperature by cooling a stirred sample and recording the first crystal to appear and the last crystal to dissolve.

Below that point the fluid blocks screens and chokes, changes density and stops being a known weight. The figure is what decides whether a brine can sit on a cold deck, be pumped through a riser in deep water, or has to be reformulated before it ships.

What it measures
First crystal to appear and last crystal to dissolve temperatures
How it works
Stirred sample cooled under calibrated thermometry
Where it is used
Completion and workover brine qualification, cold weather and deepwater storage
