Egypt Bentonite & Derivatives Company (EBDC)

By 1995, EMIDC’s business reached processing capacity. Because of land constraints at EMIDC, Rasheed Performance Minerals built another processing facility at a nearby location in Borg El Arab Industrial Development Zone. The new facility operated as Egypt Bentonite & Derivatives Company (EBDC). EBDC focused on new growth opportunities in the foundry industry and the civil engineering industry. To broaden product application capability EBDC began to import bentonite from sources outside Egypt to complement its local bentonite resource. EBDC began to import Wyoming bentonite from its new minority partner, Volclay International (a subsidiary of AMCOL International). Volclay International has a minority stake in EMIDC as well. IDIC Specialty Drilling Chemicals (IDIC)

IDIC was founded in 2005 by Ahmed Atef Rasheed. IDIC specializes in the manufacturing of organophilic bentonites under the tradename BENTOIL™ and organophilic lignites under the tradename LIGNOIL™. These products are used as drilling fluid additives in oil-based drilling fluids. IDIC also private label these products.

IDIC have developed a patented process for manufacturing organophilic bentonites (BENTOIL) and organophilic lignites (LIGNOIL) to ensure optimal raw material balance yielding the most effective performance. The manufacturing process is adaptive to effectively control raw material balance and process conditions to meet specific customer requirements.

IDIC supply Gilsonite® form the USA under the trademark RP GLM gilsonite (360°F - 380°F softening point) and RP GHM (400°F+ softening point).

IDIC supply a primary emulsifier (WINOIL PE), a secondary emulsifier (WINOIL SE), and a wetting agent (WETOIL)
